About Kris Millgate
The quiet cast of a fly line cures writer’s block for outdoor journalist Kris Millgate. Many of her multi-media production ideas come from the time she spends in her Idaho base camp where she hosts the award-winning outdoor TV segment Time OUT with Kris Millgate.
Millgate recognized the meshing of the mediums in 2006 and made the bold move to multi-media as a freelancer with her production company Tight Line Media. She manages every aspect of a production from the first word to the final edit.
Millgate is a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America and the Idaho Press Club. She is also a life member of Trout Unlimited and a commissioner for Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation.
Millgate won 1st place for Outdoor Ethics with OWAA in 2009 and President’s Choice in 2011 and 2012. The Idaho Press Club honored her with Best Documentary in 2010 and she won the Communicator Award of Distinction in 2008.
Her film Sanctuary, about recovering elk habitat in New Mexico, won best outdoor story in the nation in 2012 and is on tour with the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in 2013.
