‘Time OUT with Kris Millgate’ is an award-winning outdoor news segment in its 6th year of covering Idaho’s wild side. Millgate is a journalist with 17 years of experience. In 2012, she won best outdoor TV story in the nation from the Outdoor Writers Association of America. She also won 1st place for Outdoor Ethics with OWAA in 2009.

Nevada City, CA-Tight Line Media’s documentary ‘Sanctuary’ is going on tour. The film about restoring elk habitat in New Mexico hits the road with the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in February.
Tight Line Media produced the film for Trout Unlimited and the Sportsmen’s Conservation Project in the fall of 2011. The first few minutes of the film won best outdoor TV story in the nation in 2012 from the Outdoor Writers Association of America. The entire film will tour with the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in 2013. The tour stops at more than 100 venues across the country throughout the year.

Idaho Falls, Idaho-Tight Line Media's 2011 film 'Sanctuary' is now the best TV story in the nation according to Outdoor Writers Association of America. Outdoor journalist Kris Millgate's story about the elk whisperer and elk habitat in New Mexico won first place for hunting and shooting sports with OWAA earlier this summer. Then the OWAA President's panel chose the story as President's Choice for best outdoor TV story in the nation at its annual conference in Alaska in September. “Kris is one of our newer members who has hit the OWAA floorboards running," says Robin Giner, OWAA Executive Director. "This year’s Presidents’ Choice Award is her second in two years, and I expect we’ll see her name on this list of the best of the best in future years, too.”

Idaho Falls, Idaho-Outdoor Writers Association of America honored one of Idaho’s outdoor journalists at its annual conference held at Snowbird, Utah in July. Tight Line Media CEO Kris Millgate won President’s Choice for Little Green Thumbs her newspaper story published in the Post Register about young gardeners in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
The story also won first place in the newspaper category ahead of other publications from larger markets around the nation. Millgate also won third place in the TV category for an ice climbing story she produced for her outdoor news segment Time OUT with Kris Millgate.
Millgate hosts the weekly outdoor segment Time OUT with Kris Millgate airing on NBC and Fox in Southeast Idaho. She also produces content for Outdoor Idaho and writes for several newspapers and magazines including Post Register and Idaho Falls Magazine. Millgate joined OWAA in 2009. This is her first time attending OWAA’s annual conference. “I wasn’t sure how well little Idaho would show on a national level so you can imagine my excitement when I picked up President’s Choice as a newcomer,” Millgate said. “Competing with the big boys is intimidating, but so worth it.”

Idaho Falls, Idaho—Tight Line Media is proud to present Bring Outside In. The still art collection of outdoor journalist Kris Millgate. Along with hosting the weekly outdoor TV news segment Time OUT, Millgate produces shows for Outdoor Idaho and writes for Post Register and several magazines. She also shoots still art for the stories she uncovers.
Retirement is her favorite piece in the Bring Outside In still art collection. “The hatchery released retiring breeder cutthroat trout into Henry’s Fork and I was awestruck by their massive size,” says Millgate. “The fish jammed the pipe running from the trout truck to the river. I should have been fishing instead of taking pictures.”
Bring Outside In is on display through May 21, 2010 in the Post Register Gallery in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Meet the artist April 2, 2010 from 5:30p to 8:30p. Some of the still art featured in the Bring Outside In collection is also featured in Tight Line Media's online photo gallery.

Grand Rapids, Mich. – Idaho Falls, Idaho, resident Kris Millgate earned prestigious Excellence in Craft awards from Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA), with recognition at OWAA’s annual conference in Grand Rapids, June 16, 2009.
Millgate was awarded first place in the outdoor ethics/take pride in America contest, newspaper category. This contest recognizes excellence in communicating issues and answers that affect ethics in the outdoors and/or communicating the “Take Pride” message, i.e. encouraging the public to take care of our natural and cultural resources; getting people involved, through volunteering, to correct what has been abused; and generating new conservation projects. Her submission, “Refuge refugees,” was published in the (Idaho Falls) Post Register, April 2008.
Millgate is a freelance outdoor writer and photographer based in Idaho. She produces multimedia content for NBC and FOX in Idaho Falls, Outdoor Idaho on PBS, The Post Register, several magazines and the Associated Press.
The 1,300-member Outdoor Writers Association of America is the oldest and largest association of professional outdoor communicators in the United States. It was organized in 1927 by members of the Izaak Walton League of America and includes professional communicators dedicated to sharing the outdoor experience. Idaho Falls, Idaho--Tight Line Media is earning national honors with a Silver Telly Award for its production of ‘Idaho Meth Project Awareness.’
Mountain View Hospital contracted with Tight Line Media for the video, which debuted at the hospital’s ‘Idaho Meth Project’ fundraising banquet in October 2007. “This is a tribute to all the people who came together to fight this epidemic, especially those willing to share their revealing stories about the kind of damage meth can do,” says Frank McGovern, Mountain View Hospital Director of Public Relations. “Mountain View is proud to be a part of this."
‘Idaho Meth Project Awareness’ also aired as a special on KIFI Local News 8 in October. The 10-minute documentary profiles the lives of four local people either addicted to meth or related to a meth user. Their painful struggle reveals the challenge facing the community and the state in the fight against meth. “We have a lot of work ahead of us,” says Meghan Ronk, Idaho Meth Project Executive Director. “We have great faith the Idaho Meth Project is going to work. We’ll do everything we can. It’s something we can’t afford not to address.”
